How to Introduce Yourself in Tagalog?

Video Tutorial on YouTube: How to Introduce Yourself in Tagalog I'd like to teach you how to construct your speech when you are asked to introduce yourself in Tagalog. First of all, consider that you'd be speaking in front of more than two people and so I suggest the following structure on self-introduction: Greet a person or group of person, then show concern about the other at the time being. Say your name and other personal information. Give a strong testimonial about yourself. What is your relevance to the other person or group of people. Give your history leading to your objective or why you want to meet new people. Say your main objective, encourage your audience to take action. Finish your speech gently but with stronger call to action. Your greetings: Mabuhay. (it's the same as saying ' hi ' or ' hello ') Kumusta? (in English it's ' how are you? ') Personal information you may wish to share them: Ako si _____. ( I a...

Siya And Niya: Personal Pronouns in Tagalog are Not Gender Specific

Should you wish to drop gender specific pronouns in English, Tagalog's Sya & Niya is the way to go. This post will touch a little bit of my concern on how to go along in 2019 and beyond and how to speak appropriately when referring to friends, family and strangers as to whether they are male, female, no gender, gay, lesbian, trans-gender, sex-reassigned... and so it seems like the list could go on and on indefinitely. My perception of America is that, this country is very sensitive of political correctness. I personally am not sensitive to it but it's difficult for me to be overly opinionated and I'm afraid people will throw stones at me whenever I say the things they don't like to hear. There's recent discussion, suggesting that: THEY be denoted singular. Why? They needed one pronoun to use instead of: HE or SHE! They see the need to get rid of gender critical pronouns, and this also includes his/her. So there goes the singular T...

What is Masipag in English?

Tagalog Tutorial on YouTube I came to the idea of featuring this Tagalog word, masipag , since the day I went live via Facebook to show up with my Filipino group of friends. I focused the camera on Bruce and told them that: he is being masipag. I almost forgot what is masipag in English. The first best translation that came to me was: busy bee! Industrious:  I have always thought, since I was a kid, that masipag is the Tagalog term for industrious.  I cringed when I used it because I never heard anyone of my American friends and family say industrious. Now I wonder why. Hard working: After a while I remember that mom Cathryn often says to me: "I see that you are tired, you work hard"...  or "It's been a long day for you. You're hard working." Productive: I also think that productive is the better translation to masipag tho it sounds like this word only refers to trees bearing fruits or to workers making lots of output in a d...

The Meeting

This is the poem I wrote that time when me and Bruce just started to knowing each other! Early on we both knew that we have future together. The Meeting Have you ever recalled The way we have met? Traditional it was not; Virtual, so close to reality. With regards to time, Was it daytime or was it night time? Funny but, ‘Twas both day and night times! What knowledge the Universe got? On our first hello, A moment of solar return: Precisely 8-15-2013. Time, mysteriously exists. As we wait time was long If we meet, will it stop? Or if we climb up to the clouds, Is time that relevant? On a shuttle where we belong; Walk further ‘till we get closer. My hope, my thoughts sent in the air. Maybe the shuttle’s just small, Who knows? //bing 09122013

I Feel Lucky

Albine Bodo Poetry [I Feel Lucky] One crazy piece of poem I wrote and dated June 14, 2014... I Feel Lucky Where have you been all my life? Four enduring decades into the maze, I slid, i zigzagged, i crawled, i fell, I prayed, i insisted, and i tried. One blooming summer, i picked a rose, To the folks, my boy was a hawk. And so i uncaged that cute birdie Me as a child mingled with glee. At one little corner of my ignorance A shadow followed me, we danced Side step, forward step, i stepped back! Picked up my high-heel shoes, then i ran. I uttered, 'Oh dear godmother, fairy! What's wrong with a lass like me? See my best friend, advanced to the aisle, Replicate that event, make me a bride.' Was i just praying, or was it dream's scene? My journey continued, of various themes. Perhaps i am a person of hope factory Thinking that one day i must be lucky. Two months after 43 years of seeking At dharma garden, souls spinning You remained as yo...

Your Love To Me

Albine Bodo Poetry [Your Love To Me] This is a poem full of loving emotions I wrote in June 2014. Those were the days when me and Bruce have started dating (online), I think... Your Love To Me We kissed, I fell Under your spell A love no one Could deny. Vanquishing all My wounded past With a slam, Enliven me! Reviving me whole! Seizing me! Such is your love To me. And then I saw That yelping pup; Rise, race to Catch them up. Minnow, go to sleep And dream, Close your great big eyes; Taste your love To me. Inside my head The wheels are turning Hey, sometimes I'm not so wise. Then I would fly In ecstasy, Off to dance with stars, Heaven is your love To me.

Uncertainty

Albine Bodo Poetry [Uncertainty] This is a poem I wrote in July 2010: Uncertainty Uncertainty, oh uncertainty! You are an old friend, As if always teasing around. I just wish you come to me In other form, in pleasant surprise! To me it doesn't help To see you like a scary bomb. Sometimes however, You try to rattle my knee. Sorry but, you can't crumple me; I sit on a lotus leaf, I watch you 'till you leave. I gather love from within, Until peace is achieved.

The Gap

Albine's content writing invaded YouTube! I started this blog in 2007. That time, I thought that i'd keep this blog as a personal diary online. See the archives, it was indeed a personal diary. I was able to write stuff from 2007 until 2010! Then I stopped. For more than a decade since 2010 until late this year 2019, that was the gap. Then today, I think that it'll be nice to revive this blog again. My channel on YouTube compelled me to write again and a blog would be nice to turn my video into texts but also I need to see if this platform would be able to provide a way to store audio-only contents that my audience will be able to download, should they wish to do so. Let's see! By the way, I wish to introduce to the whole world that I'm currently active on YouTube. Please visit my channel: I hope that my videos all work for you or if not, feel free to come back to this page because I'll be writing my lessons here as another avenue for you to ac...
